HDO Housing modules – Modal Shift

The modal shift from asphalt to water is important to combat road congestion and drastically reduce CO2 emissions. With this in mind, we were able to transport housing modules by water from Beverwijk to Leiden for HDO Groep. Before starting this transport, Theo Gerrits bunkered his inland barge Delta – HVO100. Since the loading quay in Beverwijk was not yet ready to berth, the motor vessel Intermezzo kept the Delta in position with the help of its spuds. This allowed the modules to be safely placed in the ship by crane.

Another challenge was to find a suitable unloading location within a limited number of kilometres from the project site in Leiden. This too we managed to tackle with all parties involved in the chain. Thus, we too like to contribute to making the construction supply chain more sustainable. Together strong in water transport for now and the future!
